Exploring Zen: This class will familiarize participants with the origins of Zen (Taoism and Buddhism), the historical context of Zen in Chinese culture, and the practices of Zen (meditation, khans, ritual). Text requirement: The Way of Zen by Alan Watts. Instructor: Michael Carter. Fee: $40.

Fridays, March 3 to March 31, 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Meet Your Guides and Be Guided: This course will explore the theory that every individual is endowed with at least one “guide,” or guardian angel. In this workshop, you will be introduced to the metaphysical concept of “guardianship.” The class will include discussions on how guides operate, why a particular guide is your guide, what constitutes a guide’s nature and role, and by what medium personal contact is attained. Instructor: Gloriana Miller. Fee $35.

A Mystery on the Edge of Antiquity: Apollonius of Tyana: This workshop will introduce Apollonius of Tyana, one of the most mysterious, misunderstood and influential figures of late antiquity. Apollonius was the Nostradamus and Houdini of his day. Many scholars have also noted parallels between Apollonius and Jesus of Nazareth comparing their lives, ideas and their miraculous acts. Instructor: Craig Miller. Fee $35.
