Training class to present culminating performance at CCU

A group of senior adults will present a cabaret-style show Friday, March 10, as part of an eight-week noncredit performance course offered through Coastal Carolina University’s Lifelong Learning. The show, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield.

The show is the grand finale of a short course called “Starshine Performance Training,” taught by JoEllen Langley. Student performers include: Peg Bruno, Pat Doherty, Neen Durkan, Carol Finley, Dixie Hastings, Joanne Scott Lamm, Brenda Lewis, Ted Meldahl, Luis “Papo” del Pilar, Jim Walsh, Rita Walsh and Susann Yemm.

The show will include musical classics such as “It Had to Be You,” I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Wooly Bully” and “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”

Two new eight-week Starshine classes are being offered. One class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays from March 16 to May 4. The other meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays from March 17 to May 5. Both classes will be held at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center. The cost is $75.
