CCU theater students present 'Hot 'N' Throbbing'

The Coastal Carolina University Second Stage Series will present "Hot 'N' Throbbing," which opens Thursday, Sept 14 at the Edwards Black Box Theater and continues through Sunday, Sept. 17. The play is free and open to the public.

The play will be performed at 7:30 nightly from Thursday through Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17. Parental discretion is advised.

Written by Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, "Hot 'N' Throbbing" chronicles the plight of a family unit led by Charlene, who writes erotic screenplays to support her troubled teenaged son and daughter while struggling to keep her estranged, alcoholic husband at bay. Throughout the play, two characters at the edge of the stage act as a chorus, commenting on the action and quoting Joyce, Nabokov and other writers.

The play will be produced, directed, designed and acted by Coastal students. Jeff Rincione is directing the play. Cast members include Frances Farrar as Charlene, Matt James as Clyde, Sarah Jacobs as Leslie Ann, T.J. Pass as Calvin, Bryan Robinson as "The Voice" and Bethany Trotter as the "Voice Over."
