  Professor Roy Talbert
Roy Talbert, author and history professor at Coastal Carolina University, will be the keynote speaker for Phi Alpha Theta's fall meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 29. "A Century of Terror in the Homeland from 9-11-01 to 9-11-01" is being presented at 3 p.m. in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, room 317. The event is free and open to the public.

The talk will address terrorism in America over the last century from 1901 to 2001.

Talbert, author of numerous books, has recently focused on Revolutionary War hero Peter Horry and on corporate history in South Carolina.

Talbert, on active military duty from 1970 to 1972, was an Army captain on the General Staff at the Pentagon, working for the Assistant Chief of State of Intelligence. The task force investigated allegations of domestic intelligence abuses and developed policies restricting surveillance of civilians. As a result of his work there, Talbert received the Meritorious Service Medal.

His works include "Native Intelligence: The Army and the American Left, 1917-1941," published in 1991, a history of homeland threats and responses to them by the intelligence community since 1900. The book was named Outstanding Book on Human Rights.
