'1,001 Black Inventions' continues African-American Celebration at CCU

January 19, 2007

Coastal Carolina University is presenting "1,001 Black Inventions," an educational comedy performed by Pin Points Theatre, on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in Wall Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

In "1,001 Black Inventions" the audience is taken into the Twilight Zone, where a typical American family attempts to survive in a world without inventions created by Africans and African-Americans. Audiences laugh themselves into the realization that black ingenuity is an integral part of their everyday lives.

Pin Points Theatre, based out of Washington, D.C., specializes in the art of "edutainment." Pin Points' mission is "to use the process of theater to teach varied audiences - especially youth-at-risk - attitudes, skills and resources that lead to successful lives."

The event is part of Coastal's annual African-American Celebration, a series of events designed to highlight the art, history, music and theater of African-American culture. Other events are scheduled throughout the 2007 spring semester.
