CCU Lifelong Learning offers photography courses

Coastal Carolina University will offer a series of weekend photography workshops at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center beginning January 27 and 28. Instructor Bill Jordan will teach participants to sharpen their digital photography skills at all levels. He has developed and taught credit, noncredit and seminar courses in both digital photography and Photoshop for photographers over the past five years at many universities and for the Carolina Nature Photographers' Association. Introduction to Digital Photography: This course addresses all aspects of digital photography including equipment choice, image composition and capture, image editing, image printing and archiving. Particular emphasis will be placed upon digital camera operation and image composition. A structured outside shooting event will be part of the class. Fee: $150+ (DVD available for purchase in class).

Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 27 to 28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday, April 21 to 22, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adobe Photoshop CS for Photographers: This course is for those who want to learn and become more proficient with their digital image editing software. Students will be guided through a simple digital workflow utilizing the primary photographic adjustments found in Photoshop CS (also applicable to CS2). A structured outside shooting event will be part of the class. Fee: $150.

Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 to 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday, May 19 to 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 for Photographers: This course is for those who want to learn and become more proficient with their image editing software. Students will be guided through a simple digital workflow utilizing the primary photographic adjustments found in Photoshop Elements 4.0. A structured outside shoot will be part of the class. Fee: $75.

Saturday, March 17, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adobe Camera Raw: This course, while guiding students through all the ins and outs of Adobe's Camera Raw, will explore the many virtues and challenges of shooting raw images with your digital camera. In addition to covering the Camera Raw adjustments, high-bit image editing in Photoshop CS (CS2) will be covered. A structured outside shooting event will be part of the class.

Fee: $75 Sunday, March 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
