The Coastal Carolina University Theater production of "WAR (women)," a modern adaptation of Euripides' "The Trojan Women," opened Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Edwards Black Box Theater and continues through Sunday, Feb. 25. Tickets are $12 general adult admission; $8 senior citizens, Lifelong Learners and military; $6 children; and free for HGTC and CCU students with a student ID.

The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 through Sunday, Feb. 18, and Wednesday, Feb. 21 through Sunday, Feb. 25. Matinees will be performed at 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Feb. 17 and 18, and Feb. 24 and 25.

Greg London, assistant professor of theater at Coastal, adapted the Greek tragedy and also directs the production, which features original music composed and played by Scott Pleasant, professor of English.

Euripides' tragedy explores the fates of the women of Troy after their city has been sacked, their husbands killed, and their remaining families are about to be taken away as slaves. Centering on the tragic figure Hecuba, this classical Greek tragedy depicts the horrific toll taken on women during times of war.

Cast members include Coastal students Leigh Hendrix, Paige Kasten, Caitlyn Pollack and Megan Parker. The Black Box Theater is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
