'Uganda Rising' film to be shown at Coastal

February 23, 2007

A screening and discussion of "Uganda Rising," a 2006 film about the struggle for peace in northern Uganda, will be held at Coastal Carolina University on Thursday, March 1 from 6 to 9 p.m., in Wall Auditorium. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

"Uganda Rising" tells the story of what has been called the world's "biggest hostage crisis." More than 2 million Acholi people living in northern Uganda have been held hostage and terrorized for the past 20 years by a group of rebels known as the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). The group is led by their spiritual and military chiefJoseph Kony.
