Coastal presents workshops for financial planning

Three workshops are being offered at Coastal Carolina University in March and April to help attendees manage their personal finances and achieve financial independence and success.

The Financial Empowerment Workshops (FEW) are free and open to the public. They will be held from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. in room 209 of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, which is sponsoring the series.

* Wednesday, March 28 - "Managing Purchases and Credit," with Yoav Wachsman, assistant professor of economics, will focus on how to manage individual finances and credit and how to make major purchases.

* Wednesday, April 4 - "Tax Planning," with Howard Smith, executive-in-residence at Coastal. will deal with income and property taxes and how to minimize tax liability.

* Tuesday, April 10 - "Creating a Winning Portfolio," with Marvin Keene, assistant professor of finance, will delve into what stocks and bonds are, and how to design an ideal investment portfolio.
