CCU to host Hospice Web cast on dealing with grief

March 13, 2007

"Living with Grief: Before and After the Death," a live teleconference on bereavement produced by the Hospice Foundation of America, will be webcast on Thursday, March 22 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in room 100 of the Burroughs & Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies at Coastal Carolina University.

The event, sponsored by CCU's Center for Active Aging and Retirement and Mercy Hospice, is free and open to the public. Because seating is limited, reservations are required. To reserve a seat, contact Mercy Hospice at 843 347-5500.

Members of certain professions, including social workers, clergy, nurses, case managers, funeral directors, art therapists and others, may receive continuing education units (CEUs) for attending the teleconference. A fee of $15 will be charged to those attendees who wish to earn CEUs.

This teleconference will explore the most current theoretical perspectives on loss and grief as experienced by persons throughout a life-limiting illness and by survivors after the death. Particular attention will be paid to areas where understandings of grief have been challenged.

The Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies is located on Coastal's East Campus, across U.S. Highway 501 in the Atlantic Center complex.
