CCU Community Spring Festival is March 31

March 14, 2007

Coastal Carolina University's fifth annual Community Spring Festival will be held on Saturday, March 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University.

The festival, sponsored by Coastal's Spadoni College of Education, is designed to bring children and families to campus for a day of fun and learning activities. The events, especially designed for pre-school through middle school students, will be on the grounds of the Williams-Brice Physical Education Center and Atheneum Hall.

Fun and learning activities for children include face painting, moon walk, an obstacle course, an egg hunt, live music, "Home Depot for Kids," a book walk, a "Tour de Coastal" Fun Run and other athletic games as well as contests, art, music, science and other activities. There will also be an animal track activity provided by Playcard Environmental Education Center. Participants will have the opportunity to attend the Teal and White football game, and the men and women's soccer teams will conduct mini-clinics. Community agencies, such as First Step and the City of Conway Fire Department, will be in attendance. Food will also be available for purchase.

A silent auction, including a wide assortment of gift certificates, will be held. Auction proceeds will benefit community service and outreach projects sponsored by student organizations of the Spadoni College of Education. The event is free and open to the public, though donations will be accepted to help defray students' supply costs for the event.

Sponsors of the event include Bank of America, Beef O'Brady's, Conway Ford, Conway Rental Center, Domino's Pizza, Each One Teach One, Grand Strand Nissan, Kingston Plantation and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company.
