CCU Lifelong Learning begins 'Second Spring' classes
The following courses are being offered:
Art and Photography - acrylic, watercolor and pastel painting classes, stained glass, batik, art history, scrapbooking and photography
Literature - creative writing, memoir writing and book clubs
Music and Theater - opera, Vivaldi and performance training
Spanish for beginners, intermediates and advanced students
History - courses on the histories of Arabic culture, Historic Islam, Imperial Russia, the Tudors and the Stuarts of England, and Jews in South Carolina
Religion and Philosophy - Greek mythology, Biblical history and metaphysical explorations
Natural History - excursions to state parks, river and island adventures, farms and plantations as well as courses on birding, gardening and herbs
Personal Growth and Skills - yoga and self-improvement programs for discovery, renewal and creativity
Computer Technology - courses for beginners and beyond, introductions to Windows, eBay, the Internet and e-mail, and virus protection, as well as special purpose programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Web Design)
Special Events
In addition to the courses offered throughout the Academic Outreach network, Lifelong Learners may take advantage of cultural enrichment programs at Coastal at reduced rates or free. Many popular programs are open to the public at no charge, such as the Foreign Film Series on selected Mondays in the afternoons at Waccamaw and in the evenings at the Wall Auditorium on campus; Tea & Ethics programs addressing compelling issues confronting local and world citizens; and the annual Community Dialogue series, sponsored by the Edwards College Board of Visitors, on Wednesday evenings throughout February and March.
