'Jazz After Hours' concert at CCU

Jazz After Hours, Coastal Carolina University's jazz big band, will present a spring concert on Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium, under the direction of professor Dan O'Reilly. Coastal students, faculty and staff are allowed free tickets with a CCU ID.

Coastal's 20-musician jazz ensemble with a big band sound will perform a variety of classic songs, modern big band, Latin and blues arrangements of jazz. Featured composers will include: Thelonius Monk, Lester Young and Hoagy Carmichael, as well as songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis.

O'Reilly, lecturer of music at Coastal, earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in composition from Long Island University. He also has extensive performing experiences both in New York City and along the Grand Strand at such venues as the House of Blues, Broadway at the Beach and the Palace Theatre.

General admission is $8, and admission for alumni and senior citizens is $6. Tickets for the performance must be picked up from Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or 90 minutes prior to the show. For more information, call 349-2502.
