Coastal Carolina University has become aware of vendors in the area that may be falsely claiming to represent the university in order to solicit advertising and/or donations. The latest offender that has come to the university's attention is a company that produces athletic schedule posters with advertising. The university urges area businesses and individuals not to give cash or checks to vendors if there is any doubt about the validity of their solicitations.

Since Coastal does seek sponsorships from the business community for special projects, questions may arise as to the legitimacy of various solicitations. Anyone who has questions may contact Coastal's Office of Marketing Communications at 349-2017 or Public Safety at 349-6523.
