Historian/storyteller to weave 'Stories from Porch'

May 23, 2007

"Centuries of Stories from the Porch" will be presented by local historian and storyteller Lee Brockington on Thursday, June 7 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield.

As part of Coastal's Lifelong Learning program, Brockington will recount stories of summers spent on the coast of South Carolina. These tales from the past, collected through a Pawleys Island Civic Association project and through Lee's own research, feature humor, tragedy, history and nature.

Brockington will also read from her two books, "Pawleys Island: Stories from the Porch" and "Plantation Between the Waters: A Brief History of Hobcaw Barony."

Cost of the afternoon session is $10. Call 349-4030 or 349-4001 for more information or to register.
