CCU's Lifelong Learning to hold open house

Registration is currently under way for the fall noncredit courses of Lifelong Learning, offered by Coastal Carolina University at its Conway campus and its Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield, Webster University in Myrtle Beach and J. Bryan Floyd Recreation Center in North Myrtle Beach.

Open houses and orientation sessions to meet the instructors and learn more about classes are scheduled at all locations. These sessions will also include presentations by the director, Linda Ketron, at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., tours, registration and refreshments.

The Division of Academic Outreach at Coastal is offering more than 250 Lifelong Learning courses during the day and evening hours, which include subjects such as art and photography, computer technology, foreign languages, history and government, literature and writing, music, theater and film, personal growth and skills, religion and philosophy, and science and nature.

The Conway orientation and open house will be held on Monday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second floor of University Hall and at the new space in the Foundation Center. Entering from U.S. 501, University Hall is the first Coastal building on the right; from S.C. 544, it is the last building on the left. A shuttle service will transport Lifelong Learners to and from the Foundation Center where the book club will be holding its first fall meeting at 1 p.m. For more information about the Conway campus, call 349-4001 or 349-4003.

The Waccamaw Higher Education Center orientation and open house will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To get to the Center, turn west at the Willbrook Boulevard/Piggly Wiggly light in Litchfield; it is between the Hampton Inn and the fire station. The Starshine Performance Troupe will provide a preview of its upcoming show at 1:30 p.m. For more information about the Waccamaw center call 349-4030.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, there will be open houses at J. Bryan Floyd Recreation Center, 1030 Possum Trot Rd., North Myrtle Beach from 9 a.m. to noon, and at Webster University, 4589 Oleander Dr., from 1 to 4 p.m.
