Prank call comedian coming to Wheelwright Auditorium

Stand-up comedian Roy Wood Jr., known for his hilarious prank phone calls, will perform at Coastal Carolina University's Wheelwright Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Wood, of Birmingham, Ala., has been featured on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Comedy Central," "BET's ComicView," "It's Showtime At The Apollo," and this season of "Last Comic Standing." He frequently performs on talk radio and has opened for comedians such as D.L. Hughley, Mo'nique, Ron White and Bill Engvall.

Wood earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Florida A&M University. His first CD of prank calls, released in 2003, was titled "My Momma Made Me Wear This," followed by a second collection, "Confessions of a Bench Warmer," in 2005.
