CCU business honor society achieves 'premier' honor, inducts new members

October 3, 2007

Thirty-seven Coastal Carolina University students were recently inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society for business students.

Since 1999, Coastal Carolina University has inducted 269 Beta Gamma Sigma members. The 2006/2007 academic year was the first that the Coastal chapter of BGS obtained a 100 percent acceptance rate from students invited to join the honor society, earning the CCU chapter international recognition as a premier chapter. Only 15 percent of the 468 BGS chapters worldwide obtained this honor last year.

"An invitation to join Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest honor a business student anywhere in the world can receive," said Barbara Ritter, adviser of the society. Only students ranking in the top 10 percent of the baccalaureate and top 20 percent of graduate programs at schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International are eligible for this invitation.
