Coastal Carolina University's Concert and Chamber choirs will combine with the Carolina Forest High School Choral Ensemble to present "Americana- A Celebration of American Choral Music," featuring works by American composers on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Tickets are $8 for general admission and $6 for Coastal alumni and senior citizens; free to Coastal faculty, staff and students with a valid ID.

American composers and arrangers such as Aaron Copland, Robert Shaw, Rene Clausen and Irving Fine will be featured. The program will include well-known favorites of American folk and choral music such as "The Gift To Be Simple," "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair," "L'il Liza Jane," "Stomp Your Foot" and "How Can I Keep from Singing?" A beautiful arrangement of "America the Beautiful" will also be performed.

Coastal's 13-person Chamber Choir and the 45-person Concert Choir are both led by Terri Sinclair. The Carolina Forest High School Choral Ensemble, with 43 members, is directed by Kraig McBroom.

Sinclair, director of choral activities at Coastal, earned a bachelor's degree in piano performance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master's degree in choral conducting from Florida State University, and a doctorate in choral conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
