Comedians perform at Wheelwright for CCU Homecoming

October 17, 2007

Three young comedians will perform in Coastal Carolina University's Homecoming Comedy Showcase on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for Coastal and Horry-Georgetown Technical College students. The show will have content that is adult-oriented and is not recommended for children.

Michael Blackson, the headliner of the event, is a native of Ghana, West Africa, and has been featured on BET's "Comic Veiw," "Def Comedy Jam," "Uptown Comedy Tour," "HBO Snaps" and at comedy clubs and college campuses worldwide. He also appeared in the films "Lean On Me" and "Next Friday."

Jason Andors of New York City exploited his breakdancing skills to win admission into the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and later to Lincoln Center's School of American Ballet. Andors turned to comedy after a freak accident ended his dancing career, and he has had gigs on HBO's "P Diddy Bad Boys Of Comedy" and on "Showtime at the Apollo." He has also appeared on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and BET's "Comic View."

Rip Michaels, born and raised in Chicago, applies his "take no prisoners" approach to universal issues such as relationships, world issues and the therapeutic value of a good life. He has appeared on BETs "Comic View," Jamie Fox's "Laffapalooza," "Showtime at the Apollo," and MTV's "Punk'd."
