RENAISSANCE FAIR DAY TO BE HELD MARCH 3

February 9, 2001

Adults and retirees can choose from 24 workshops and seminars at Coastal Carolina University’s Renaissance Fair Day, Saturday, March 3 on the Coastal campus. Topics include investing, health issues, computer instruction, history, horticulture, ecology, music and more. The cost to participate is $17.50. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Following a Continental breakfast and registration from 8:30 to 9 a.m., participants attend one seminar in each of the three separate sessions – two morning sessions and an afternoon session concluding at 2:30 p.m. A bag lunch is included. Seminars and workshops will be held on campus in Kearns Hall, the Lifelong Learning Society House and the Admissions Building. Shuttle service will be available.

Scheduled seminars, led by Coastal faculty and staff and area experts, include:

• Session A, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. – Exercise: How It Can Make Your Years Golden; Blooming Idiots: Gardening 101; Surviving the Golden Years; Genealogy Kick-Start; You, Your Computer and Your Digital Camera; How to Buy A Computer and Learn to Love it, Part I; Cosmetic Plastic Surgery; Issues in Elderlaw.

• Session B, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – A Reason To Live: Discover Your Love Language; Sing Me A Ballad, Tell Me A Tale; Shagging At The Beach; Tall-tales In Local History; How to Buy A Computer and Learn to Love it, Part II; Long Team Health Care Issues: Principles of Chinese Medicine.

• Session C, 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. – Common Sense Investing; Introduction to the Internet; Families - They Aren’t What They Used To Be; Wetland - Rivers, Swamps, Beaches and Marshes; Senior Scams and How to Avoid Them; America’s Greatest 19th Century Composer; Writing Memories; The ABCs of Decorating.

The event is sponsored by Coastal’s Lifelong Learning Society, a learning-in-retirement program which offers more than 60 courses each semester.
