Annual Gospel Sing Out at CCU to feature gospel groups

February 4, 2008

Coastal Carolina University's annual Gospel Sing Out is Sunday, Feb. 17 at 4:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

The Sing Out will feature performances by the Coastal Carolina University Gospel Choir, the Francis Marion University Gospel Choir, the Charleston Southern-One Accord Gospel Choir and New Generation for Christ from Camden.

The CCU Gospel Choir, composed of more than 30 students, provides a means for students to express and showcase their talents and love of gospel music. The choir, established in 1988, has performed around South Carolina as well as the Southeast. Directed by David Manigo, the group placed first in the 2005 Black Family Expo College Gospel Choir Competition in Florence.

The event is part of Coastal's annual African-American Celebration, a series of events designed to highlight the art, history, music and theater of the African-American culture.

Tickets for the performance may be picked up from the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., or 90 minutes prior to the performance. For more information call 349-2502.
