Coastal Carolina University religion professor Preston McKever-Floyd will give a talk on the "Masks of the Sacred: Religious Diversity in the Low Country" on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at Coastal's Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield. The discussion is free and open to the public.

This is the second event in Coastal's "I'm Glad You Asked" dialogue series, sponsored by the Board of Visitors of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

McKever-Floyd will explain how religions with origins in ancient Persia and India took root in Horry and Georgetown counties. The discussion will focus on the pivotal beliefs and organizational structure of the Meher Baba Spiritual Center in Myrtle Beach and South Carolina's fast-growing Baha'i Faith community.

Professor McKever-Floyd earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Virginia State University, a master of divinity degree from Duke University and an advanced studies degree from Northwestern University and Emory University. His areas of study include philosophy of religion, feminism and world religions.

Coastal's Waccamaw Higher Education Center is located off of U.S. 17 at 160 Willbrook Blvd. behind the Hampton Inn in Litchfield.
