CCU Theatre presents 'Angry Gods & Lost Marbles'

Coastal Carolina University Theatre will present "Angry Gods & Lost Marbles" on Thursday, Feb. 21 through Saturday, March 1 in the Black Box Theater of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Performances are nightly at 7:30 p.m. with 3 p.m. showings on Saturday, Feb. 23, Sunday, Feb. 24, and Saturday, March 1. There is no Sunday evening performance.

"Angry Gods & Lost Marbles" follows the story of two clowns after they attacked by capricious gods and one of them loses their marbles. The clowns struggle with demons, angels and other mystical creatures as they search for their sanity. The play examines the fragility of the human mind and the precarious balance between sanity and illness.

The cast includes CCU students Jessica Leach, Amelia Hammond, Meghan Perry, Jordan Alcoba, Frances Farrar, Brittany Kelly, Bryan Robinson, Nataly Garzon and Townsend Pass.

Kenneth Martin, producer of the show, is chair and associate professor of theatre at Coastal. He earned a bachelor's degree in theater and film history from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point and a master's degree in theater design and technology from Ohio State University. Martin joined the Coastal faculty in April 2006.

Visiting artist Paoli Lacy, director of the production, earned a master of fine arts degree from the University of Washington, as well as a diploma from Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Clown College. Paoli has directed more than two dozen world premieres and many national premieres. She began her career as a performer specializing in comedy and physical theater, and she is the author of the "Clown Therapy Handbook."

Tickets are available at the Wheelwright Box Office and are $12 general admission, $8 alumni and seniors, and $6 to CCU students and faculty and staff with ID. The box office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
