CCU to co-host National Sport and Recreation Conference

Coastal Carolina University's recreation and sport management program is co-hosting the National Sport and Recreation Law Association Conference at the Embassy Suites Hotel located in Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach on Feb. 28 through March 1. The conference is open to the public, and registration applications are available.

Keynote speaker Brooke Beyer, of the marketing council for NASCAR, will present a PowerPoint overview of the NASCAR industry, with particular attention to its risk management policies. He will discuss some of the current legal cases in which NASCAR is involved.

The conference will bring together more than 100 international, national and local risk management and sport law professionals to discuss contemporary topics related to the legal and risk management aspects of sport, recreation and physical activity, and to engage the community in these topics.

The Sport and Recreation Law Association is a nonprofit corporation whose primary purpose is to further the study and dissemination of information regarding legal aspects of sport and recreation activities in the public and private sectors.
