CCU board approves budget reallocation
To alleviate growing campus concerns about parking, the board approved a plan to seek the necessary approvals to make Chanticleer Drive a one-way road and install diagonal parking spaces along the interior lane. The temporary measure would provide approximately 400 additional parking spaces.
The board authorized exploring the purchase of a $2.1 million building in the Atlantic Center, which would be used for office and storage spaces.
The board approved the following leases: theater storage, $24,492; Alumni House, $4,200; Burroughs and Chapin Marine and Wetland Studies, Singleton Building, Atheneum Hall for $1; and the soccer field for $1.
The board authorized a $2,000 consulting contract for an assessment of the university's campus alcohol policies, educational programs and treatment services.
The board authorized the use of external references for the promotion and tenure process for faculty hired in fall 2008 or later.
The title Distinguished Professor Emeritus was designated for the following faculty at their retirement:

April 5, 2008, has been designated Henry O. Hucks Day to honor the former standout student-athlete. Hucks was a Coastal student in the late 1960s.
The Green Room in Wheelwright Auditorium will be named the Thomas E. Jones Green Room in recognition of the late long-time theater professor.
