Meacham named associate counsel at Coastal Carolina

February 20, 2008

Timothy E. Meacham of Conway has joined the administration of Coastal Carolina University in a part-time capacity as Associate University Counsel.

He has been providing legal assistance to the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees for the past year and will now take on additional duties in contract litigation, according to Edgar Dyer, executive vice president of the university.

Meacham, a 1979 graduate of Coastal Carolina and a 1982 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, was the first Coastal alumnus to become a member of the bar. As an undergraduate, he was president of Student Government Association and editor of The Chanticleer student newspaper. He was elected to CCU's chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa honor society and received the outstanding student award in the Department of Politics.

In the course of his career, Meacham has worked as a prosecutor, a trial attorney in general practice, a municipal attorney and as manager of a legal services agency. He has also served as a teaching associate in CCU's Department of Politics since 2004. He was named the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year in 2005.
