Meet and greet reception in honor of visiting authors

Award-winning authors Jill McCorkle and Susan Vreeland will be honored at a meet and greet reception on Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m. at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center. The reception is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of Coastal Carolina University. The event is free and open to the public.

McCorkle is the author of eight works, including her most recent book, "Creatures of Habit," which she will read from as a part of CCU's The Words to Say It Visiting Writers Series. McCorkle earned a bachelor's degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree from Hollins College. She received numerous awards, including the Jesse Render Prize and the Andrew James Purdy Prize.

Vreeland's latest work, "Luncheon of the Boating Party," is her fifth work of art-related fiction. She is the author of several acclaimed novels and has won a number of awards including the New York Times Best Seller, Book Sense of the Year Finalist, the Theodor Geisel Award and Best Novel of the Year. Vreeland received a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University. Both authors will sign books during the reception and copies of their work will be available for sale.
