Visiting speaker raises awareness about international business

James K. Henderson, the DuPont Corporation's Latin American representative, will give a presentation, "Comercio Internacional: Language and Cultural Insights in Business," on Thursday, March 27 at 10 a.m. in the Wall Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University. The event is hosted by the Wall Center for Excellence in conjunction with the CCU Department of Foreign Languages.

Henderson will talk about the challenges in U.S. business relations with Latin American countries, particularly regarding politics, language, culture and societal complexities. The presentation will focus on "real life" experiences in international business.

Henderson is the Latin America Environmental Remediation Group project director for the DuPont Corporation. He earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., a master's degree in environmental studies from California State University and a doctorate in environmental engineering from Clemson University.

Henderson taught English as a second language in Bogota, Colombia, and worked with an international environmental consulting firm prior to taking a job at DuPont. He oversees DuPont properties in the U.S., Puerto Rico and various Latin American countries, while also conducting scientific research. He is the son of CCU professors Linda and Jim Henderson.
