Two S.C. poets to read at Tea & Poetry at CCU

Poets Carol Peters and Warren Slesinger will read from their works at Coastal Carolina University's Tea & Poetry on Thursday, March 27 at 3 p.m. at CCU's Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield. The event is free and open to the public.

A book signing and reception will follow the readings. Tea & Poetry is a series of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Coastal.

Peters will read from her recent works, which have appeared in Pembroke Magazine, RealPoetik, miPOradio, Pebble Lake Review and Cairn. Her latest chapbook, "Muddy Prints, Water Shine," is being published next month. She lives in Charleston and Hakalau, Hawaii.

Slesinger earned a master's degree from the Iowa Writers Workshop, and he has received an Ingram-Merrill grant and a South Carolina Poetry Fellowship. He is a former university press editor and teaches at the University of South Carolina, Beaufort. His chapbook, "A Word for It," was published by Finishing Line in 2007. Slesinger has residencies at the artists' community Yaddo, the MacDowell Colony, and the Sitka Center for Study of the Arts and Ecology.

The Waccamaw Higher Education Center is located off U.S. 17 at 160 Willbrook Blvd. behind the Hampton Inn in Litchfield.
