CCU Symphonic Band presents spring concert

April 7, 2008

Coastal Carolina University's Symphonic Band will present its annual spring concert on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach. This performance is the third in the ensemble's Community Concert series. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The program will feature Coastal faculty member Jeffrey Jones as baritone soloist on "Le Tambour Major" ("The Drum Major") from the opera "Le Caid" by Ambroise Thomas; as well as guest conductor Ken Ozzello, director of bands at the University of Alabama.

The concert is presented as a community outreach experience for residents and visitors to the Grand Strand. Jim Tully, associate professor and director of bands at Coastal, leads the symphonic band.

The Christ United Methodist Church is located off U.S. 501, west of the Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach, across from Medieval Times in the Hard Rock Park area.
