CCU student-produced Tempo magazine receives national honors

Coastal Carolina University's student-produced features publication Tempo magazine recently received recognition for its 2007 fall semester issue. The awards were given by the Society of Newspaper Designers (SND), which includes magazines.

The magazine won two first place awards, for photography and layout; a second place award for photography; and an honorable mention for the cover. Tempo art director Rob Byrd was named Designer of the Year.

Stephanie Hutto, editor-in-chief of Tempo, is a graduating senior interdisciplinary studies major from Green Cove Springs, Fla. The assistant editor, Lauren Formalarie, is a senior resort tourism management major of Belchertown, Mass. And Rob Byrd, Tempo's art director, is a senior art studio major from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Linda Hollandsworth, a professor of English at Coastal, is the adviser of Tempo's staff.
