S.C. artist McAbee featured in Coastal exhibition
McAbee was selected from a pool of South Carolina artists for a solo exhibition by guest juror Tom Stanley of Winthrop University.
Bold colors and whimsical imagery are prime elements in this collection, according to the artist, who lives and works in Spartanburg. He earned a bachelor's degree in art and an MFA in sculpture from Winthrop University. McAbee is a graphic designer for Carolina Emblem Company, an adjunct professor at Winthrop University, and he creates steel sculpture in his spare time.
McAbee and his work have been featured in The Rock Hill Herald, The Charlotte Observer, The Florence Morning News, The State News, Spartanburg Magazine and other publications. Bryan Gallery programs are supported in part by The Friends of Bryan Gallery, the Coastal Educational Foundation and the South Carolina Arts Commission.
The gallery, which is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, room 129, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 234-3466.
