The
Burroughs Law Firm has made a $45,000 donation to Coastal
Carolina University's NCAA I-AA football program, scheduled to begin
competition in fall 2003. Architectural designs are being drawn for a
new on-campus football stadium and athletic facility which will be
located at the corner of University Boulevard and Highway 544.
"I think that football will be a tremendous plus for Coastal, from
the standpoint of community life," said H. Franklin Burroughs, owner of
The Burroughs Law Firm. "Coastal football will have a big impact on
Horry County and beyond. The benefits to Coastal are really going to be
impressive. Alumni interest in the university will increase because of
football and I am really excited about that prospect. The generation of
positive energy from the football program is going to be felt
throughout the entire campus and region."
Burroughs has been a trustee at Coastal since 1993, when the
institution separated from the University of South Carolina. He has
served the board as chairman and secretary, and as a member of the
development and alumni affairs committee. Burroughs earned a bachelor's
degree in political science from Coastal in 1984 and a juris doctor
degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1987.
