Coastal Carolina University's Symphonic Band will present "A
Concert in F: Flourishes, Folk Song, Flute and Film" Monday, April 23
at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The program, which is free and
open to the public, will feature the music of Grainger, Holst, Vaughn
Williams, Mozart, Fucik and others.
The ensemble, directed by James Tully, features more than 30
Coastal students. Amy Hardison Tully, adjunct flute instructor at
Coastal, will be the featured soloist in Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 2
in D Major.
James Tully, assistant professor of music at Coastal, earned a
bachelor's degree in music education and master's degree in wind band
conducting from West Virginia University and an Ed.D. from the
University of Memphis. Prior to coming to Coastal, he had an 11-year
career leading middle and high school band programs in Tennessee,
Mississippi and South Carolina.
Amy Hardison Tully earned a bachelor's degree in flute performance
from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a master's
degree in musicology from Northwestern University. She is a member of
the Long Bay Symphony, Woodwinds Three and the North Myrtle Beach
Community Band.
