Coastal Carolina University to host C-SPAN Civics Bus

February 26, 2009

The C-SPAN Civics Bus, a 45-foot mobile production studio and demonstration center operated by the cable public affairs network, will travel to Coastal Carolina University on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 4 as part of its "100 Days, 100 Schools" program. The bus will stop on the University's Prince Lawn from noon to 3 p.m. and will be open to the public.

The bus, which is visiting 100 schools during the first 100 days of the new presidential administration, features the latest television production equipment. Students, teachers and other visitors will have a chance to tour the bus during the visit and learn about the many resources C-SPAN offers, and about internship opportunities for students.

C-SPAN personnel talk about the network's coverage of the new administration and offer information about the C-SPAN Video Library and C-SPAN Classroom, a free membership service for educators with downloadable video clips.

C-SPAN, celebrating 30 years as America's political network of record, was created by America's cable companies as a public service in 1979. C-SPAN operates three public affairs television networks; C-SPAN Radio, a Washington, D.C. radio station distributed nationally by XM Satellite Radio; and a video-rich Web site. C-SPAN is available in more than 95 million cable and satellite households. For more information about the network and the C-SPAN bus, visit www.c-span.org.

Time Warner is sponsoring the C-SPAN bus' visits in the Conway area. For more information, call 843-349-2015.
