March 17, 2009

Coastal Carolina University will present, "Our Voice: A Celebration of Black Women in Music" Wednesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Wall Auditorium of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

The show is a musical timeline of American history utilizing music made popular by African-American women. The members of the cast are Nicole Pryor, Angela Clark, Danielle White and Joel Rene. Other songs in the show include "Strange Fruit," made popular by Billie Holliday, as well as tunes performed by the Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summers and Whitney Houston.

The event is part of the University's annual African-American Celebration, a series that runs throughout the 2009 spring semester. The Mu Iota Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is co-sponsoring the event.
