Composer Meira Warshauer to perform
Warshauer is currently the Nancy A. Smith Distinguished Visitor in Residence at the University. Her presentation will feature live and recorded examples of her compositions for orchestra, chorus and chamber ensembles. Warshauer has devoted much of her creative output to Jewish themes and their universal message. Her work also reflects a love and respect for the earth.
Warshauer's works, which mirror her personal spiritual journey, have been performed and recorded in Israel, Europe, South America, Asia and the United States.
Warshauer has been awarded the Artist Fellowship in Music by the South Carolina Arts Commission twice, as well as the first Art and Cultural Achievement Award from the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina. She earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University, a master's degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a D.M.A. from the University of South Carolina.
