Vernon Burton, Burroughs Distinguished Professor of Southern History and Culture at Coastal Carolina University, will be featured on C-SPAN at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 4.

The C-SPAN broadcast will feature Burton discussing his acclaimed 2007 book, "The Age of Lincoln," with Civil War scholar James McPherson.

Burton joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 2007. He is the author of 14 books and numerous articles on the American South. His "Age of Lincoln" received considerable notice for its bold interpretation of 19th century American history.

The program is the last in a year-long series of C-SPAN shows on Abraham Lincoln.

The first 20 minutes of the program features the Lincoln home in Springfield, Ill.,followed by Burton's talk and then a presentation by James Percoco on Lincoln memorials.

"This is our last monthly Lincoln program," producer Delia M. Rios of C-SPAN wrote to Burton. "I think your 'Age of Lincoln' is a good way to encourage viewers to think broadly about Lincoln and his legacy."
