Award-winning poet gives reading at Coastal Carolina University

Coastal Carolina University's annual African-American Poetry event is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, in the Wall Auditorium. The program will feature poetry written and read by University students, faculty and staff. Guest poet Paul D. will return to Coastal Carolina for the second year to present a selection of his works. The event is free and open to the public.

Paul D. of Atlanta, Ga., has established himself in the poetry world by using unique imagery, word play and storytelling techniques. In 2005 he won the Southern Fried Poetry Slams in Charlotte, N.C., competing against more than 100 poets in the world's largest regional slam competition. His team finished in second place in the 2006 Southern Fried Poetry Slams in Birmingham, Ala.

The show is the last event of the University's annual African American Celebration. For more information contact the Office of Multicultural Student Services at 843-349-2863.
