Poet Deborah Ager will give a reading from her work at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16 in the Wall Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University. The event, part of The Words to Say It Visiting Writers Series, is free and open to the public.

Ager's first book of poetry, "Midnight Voices," was published last month by Cherry Grove Collections. Her work has appeared in "Best New Poets 2006," "Best of the Tigertail Anthologies," The Bloomsbury Review, The Georgia Review and New Letters. She is the founding editor of 32 Poems magazine.

A native of Bethesda, Md., Ager earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Florida.

Ager is the co-director of the Joaquin Miller Cabin Poetry Reading Series in Washington, D.C. She was a Tennessee Williams Scholar at the Sewanee Writers' Conference and has received fellowships from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, the MacDowell Colony and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
