Ensembles, choirs to perform Copland music

Coastal Carolina University's wind and choral ensembles will give the final performance of the Community Concert series at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 at the Christ United Methodist Church located near the former Hard Rock Theme Park. The concert is presented as a community outreach experience for residents and visitors to the Grand Strand. The event is free and open to the public.

The Symphonic Band and the Chamber and Concert Choirs will perform songs by the American composer Aaron Copland. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Copland has been referred to as the "dean of American composers."

The program will include selections from "Lincoln Portrait," "Appalachian Spring" and from "The Tender Land." Steve Porter of WRNN Radio will narrate the "Lincoln Portrait."

For more information call the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 843-349-2502.
