Coastal offers Certificate in Effective Management Practices

April 1, 2000

Carolina University is offering a non-credit program which will allow adults to earn a Certificate in Effective Management Practices. The program is designed for people who are entering a management or supervisory-level position or who want to upgrade their present skills.

The program consists of six seminars, each presented in two parts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning March 21. Participants will learn to analyze information for decision making; supervise, lead and develop employees; communicate effectively inside and outside the organization; and how to manage a growing multicultural work force.

Certification requires the completion of six courses. Four of the six courses are offered each semester. Courses may be taken in any order or may be taken individually (not for certification). The registration fee for each seminar is $139, or $699 for the entire certificate program. Take the entire certificate program and save more than $200. College credits may not be earned nor is a college degree required for participation.

Classes will meet in the Burroughs & Chapin Center for Excellence at Myrtle Square Mall in Myrtle Beach. The program is offered through Coastal's Division of Extended Learning and Public Services.

The following seminars will be offered as part of the spring 2000 program: - Making Management Decisions - March 21 and 23 - Supervising Successfully - March 29 and 30 - Business Communication Skills - April 4 and 6 - Information Technology and the Manager - April 11 and 13
