Guitar students present recital

Coastal Carolina University guitar students will perform Tuesday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. The event is free, but tickets are required.

The Guitar Studio Recital showcases student soloists and ensembles from the University guitar studio. Student guitarists include Ron Ott, Daniel Koebler, Dan Davenport, Seymour Lewis II, Joe Angelica, Michael Lott, Chase Gainey, Curtis McDonald and Matt Tracey. They will perform works by J. S. Bach, Leo Brouwer, Mauro Giulianni, Fernando Sor, Grancisco Tarrega, Andrew York, Robert de'Visse and Maurice Ravel. The event will conclude with a performance by the University Guitar Quartet.

The students are under the direction of Daniel Hull, a teaching associate in the Department of Music. Hull earned a bachelor's degree in guitar performance from Illinois State University where he studied with Douglas Rubio. He earned a master's degree and a doctorate in guitar performance from the Eastman School of Music while studying with Nicholas Goluses. An active soloist and ensemble musician, Hull has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.

Tickets for the performance may be picked up from the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or prior to the performance. For more information call 843-349-2502.
