Pop 101 presents tribute concert

Coastal Carolina University's Pop 101 student musical group will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival of 1969 at its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22 in the Wheelwright Auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a trivia pre-show.

Tickets are $9 general admission; $7 alumni and senior citizens; free for Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College faculty, staff and students (two per valid ID), and for teens and children when accompanied by an adult.

The tribute concert will feature music originally performed at the 1969 Woodstock festival. Artists represented include Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, Joan Baez, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Joe Cocker and more.

Guests are invited to dress in 1960s-inspired clothing to aid in the re-creation of the legendary concert.

Pop 101 is the University's contemporary music ensemble that performs popular music in a rock band context. The band features students on guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and horns, as well as student vocalists.

Tickets for the performance may be picked up from the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or prior to the performance. For more information, call 843-349-2502.
