Coastal Carolina University flute students give public recital

The Coastal Carolina University flute studio will give a public performance at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 20 in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. The event is free, but tickets are required. Tickets may be picked up from the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or prior to the performance.

The program will feature soloists as well as a flute choir. The soloists will perform pieces by Mozart, Handel, Poulenc and Charles Griffes. The flute choir will perform an arrangement of Saint-Saëns' "Danse Macabre" as well as the "Roundabout Rag" by Kathleen Mayne.

The student flutists are Jennifer Forrer, T.J. Huggins, Stephanie Miller, Maggie Morgan, Victoria Panos, Rachel Pederson, Courtney Ray and Leanne Smith. Accompanists include Rebecca Rollins on piano, Stevie Martinez on bass and piano, and Anna Elsesser, Michelle Loscalzo and Sami Hoover on percussion.

The flute students are under the direction of Amy Tully, assistant professor of music at Coastal Carolina University. She is principal flutist with the Long Bay Symphony and a frequent performer in musical ensembles in the Grand Strand and Wilmington, N.C., areas.
