William R. Benson of Conway, senior vice president of Conway National Bank, was recently honored by Coastal Carolina University's chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma at its annual induction ceremony. A total of 56 students were inducted into the organization, the honor society for collegiate business students.

Benson was recognized for "exemplifying the ideals of Beta Gamma Sigma, which are honor, wisdom and earnestness." A longtime supporter of the University's E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, Benson is chairman of the college's Board of Visitors.

Kay Keels, associate professor of management at the University, received the chapter's Faculty Appreciation Award for "extraordinary service and dedication to the Wall College of Business." Andy Weinbach, assistant professor of economics, was also voted Professor of the Year by the Beta Gamma Sigma students.

The Wall College's Beta Gamma Sigma chapter recently won the prestigious Silver Chapter Award, an international honor given to chapters that conduct "programs of significance." The chapter's adviser, management professor Barbara Ritter, received an honorable mention in the year's Outstanding Chapter Adviser Competition.

Only undergraduates in the top 10 percent of their class and MBA students in the top 20 percent of their class are eligible for Beta Gamma Sigma membership.

Beta Gamma Sigma chapters are limited to colleges and universities that are accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) - The International Association for Management Education are eligible for a Beta Gamma Sigma chapter.
