Lifelong Learning hosts Free Week Sept. 8 to 10

August 17, 2009

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Coastal Carolina University will offer "Free Week," a week of noncredit courses to sample from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Thursday, Sept. 10.

Current and prospective Lifelong Learners will be offered dozens of free lectures and demonstrations of upcoming courses and clubs. There will also be an opportunity to meet members of the faculty and staff, learn about accessing OLLI's Web site and online WebAdvisor and get assistance with registering for OLLI membership, classes and parking permits.

Classes for regular OLLI fall session begin Monday, Sept. 14. OLLI offers area residents more than 250 classes and workshops held at the three outreach centers: Conway (Foundation Center at U.S. 501 and Winyah Road), Myrtle Beach (Myrtle Beach Education Center at 79th Avenue North and U.S. 17 Bypass) and Litchfield (Waccamaw Higher Education Center on Willbrook Boulevard).

The 40-page catalog is available and may be picked up at the outreach centers, local libraries and chambers of commerce. The detailed schedule for "Free Week" is included, along with the schedule of courses in art and photography, computer technology, foreign languages, history and government, literature and writing, music, theater and film, personal growth and skills, religion and philosophy, science and history, as well as nature excursions.

The entire catalog is posted at www.coastal.edu/olli, as is the weekly newsletter, which informs Lifelong Learners about upcoming courses, workshops and community events. For more information or to receive a catalog by mail, call 843-349-4001 or 843-349-4030.
