Cultural Celebration set for Sept. 16

Coastal Carolina University will host the 18th annual Cultural Celebration festival from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 on Prince Lawn. The event is free and open to the public. The rain date is Wednesday, Sept. 23 at the same time and location.

The event is designed to involve all areas of campus in celebrating cultural diversity by highlighting the history, music, dance, art and food of many countries.

Coastal Carolina University's African Drum and Dance Ensemble, and C-pan Band will perform. The Myrtle Beach Pipe Band and Abiding Village Dance Troupe will perform as well.

Visiting performers include the Argentina Tango Dancers of Mt. Pleasant, Yasmine and Magic Hips of Charlotte, N.C., Zion Daughters Drum and Dance Ensemble of Conway, the Myrtle Beach Pipe band and Abiding Village Dance Ensemble.

In addition to the ethnic entertainment, there will be arts and jewelry on display, offering cuisine from various countries. Tables will be set up for the University's student groups to showcase different cultures.
