Resort Tourism Management students present plans for Fantasy Harbor

November 19, 2009

Five groups of students in the Seminar in Resort Tourism Planning class at Coastal Carolina University have created resort development proposals for up to 248 acres located in the area known as Fantasy Harbor. The students will present the development proposals in the Wall Auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Wall Auditorium. The class is open to the public on this day.

The students, who have been working on the project since August 2009, will address a range of factors including market demand and financial feasibility from the perspective of both a hypothetical developer and county government, and potential impacts of the development on the community. Design elements chosen by some of the teams to date include indoor water parks, arenas, indoor and outdoor sports complexes, an equestrian venue, alternative sidewalk transportation, a cable park, cafés, shops, restaurants, and various types of lodging facilities.
